In order to speed up the development of green transportation, and respond to the enforcement of IMO resolution, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Transport jointly approved the marine exhaust gas cleaning project system of magnesium method in November, 2012.

With strong support from related authorities, Dalian Maritime University conducted close cooperation with Aerospace Communications Holding Group Co., Ltd., COSCO Container Lines Co., Ltd. and Dalian University of Technology, accomplishing the following staged technical achievements.

Designed and developed the marine exhaust gas cleaning system of magnesium method, breaking through key technologies and compatibility problems, successfully treating the exhaust gas to comply with IMO regulation.

Developed effective method and equipment of preparing highly active desulfurizing solution.

Developed effluent treatment equipment, treating wash water to comply with IMO regulation.

Successfully developed automatic control and monitoring system.

In addition, the project also obtained test certificate from CCS, and there are so far 13 utility model patents, 2 pending utility model patents, 7 invention patents, 8 pending invention patents and 3 pending international patents obtained and 9 research papers published based on its principle.

The staged achievements were highly affirmed by attending experts. At the next stage, the project prototype will be installed and commissioned on board, followed by inspection from CCS for approval.
